INTRODUCTION
The island nation of Grenada consists of a main island and six smaller islands in the Caribbean Sea with an area of about 344 km2 and a population of about 110,000 people. Geographically, Grenada is located northwest of Trinidad & Tobago, southwest of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and northeast of Venezuela.
Grenada, known as the “Isle of Spice”, is one of the most beautiful islands in the West Indies. With its unique and primitive features, Grenada surprises visitors with its wild steep mountains, hidden shallow bays, spice gardens and lush green tropical forests. The beaches are idyllic with white or golden sand, rows of green palm trees blending with the delicate aroma of spices grown on the island.
In addition to its scenic beauty, Grenada is brimming with culture, fun and friendliness that characterize the Caribbean lifestyle – making Grenada an ideal place to live, work and play.

TOURISM
Grenada's tourism industry is growing significantly, steadily gaining a larger share of the Caribbean tourism market. The island nation is world-renowned for its stunning natural scenery, with lush tropical beaches.
Regular beach and water sports tourism is mainly concentrated in the southwestern region around St. George, the airport and the long coastline. Ecotourism is growing significantly. Most of the small eco-friendly guesthouses are located in the parishes of Saint David and Saint John. The tourism industry is growing strongly with the construction of a large cruise ship terminal and a promenade along the beach.
Grenada's festivals are also a tourist attraction, including the Carriacou Maroon and String Band Music Festival in April, the annual Bill Fish Island Marine Bank Tournament, the Drao World Sailing Week and the Grenada Sailing Festival.

In addition to tourism, Grenada’s economy relies on the revenue generated by St. George’s.

AGRICULTURE AND EXPORTS
Over the past 20 years, Grenada’s economy has shifted from agriculture to service provision. An independent country within the British Commonwealth and part of the Windward Islands in the southern Caribbean, Grenada is known as the “Spice Island”. Famous for its nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and vanilla, Grenada has more spices per square mile than anywhere else on the planet. Nutmeg is the most popular spice and the second leading export in the world and is featured on Grenada’s flag. Grenada produces about a third of the world’s supply of nutmeg. Major export markets include the United States, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and Canada. Other major exports include bananas, cocoa, fruits and vegetables, clothing, chocolate and fish.

SOCIO-CULTURE
Grenada has a high level of education, as shown by its 98% literacy rate. Compulsory education is provided from the age of 6 to 14. Most schools in Grenada are run by the church. The government determines the curriculum. After completing primary education, students must take exams to enter secondary school. Most Grenadian students have completed secondary school or higher. They can then continue their studies at universities in Grenada.
Health care is free for all citizens. Grenada has health facilities in both rural and urban areas.
PEOPLE
Citizens of Grenada are some of the friendliest people in the Caribbean. Children are taught from a young age: “Don’t pass by without wishing them a good day.” Therefore, it will not be surprising if you are walking on the street and are greeted by people here. This is the way the citizens of Grenada show their friendliness and hospitality.
Civilization is also shown through the road culture when participating in traffic in Grenada. On the road, you hardly hear car horns, if there are any, they are usually buses. People are always ready to help when you need it and want to make sure you are okay. Giving small gifts such as fruits from the garden or traditional gifts is very normal in Grenada.
