Many Changes to the UK Student Visa.

ENGLAND

On May 22, Mr. James Sharp, Asia-Pacific regional director of the UK Border Agency, said that the UK has begun to apply many changes in the student visa policy in this country.

Specifically, to stay in the UK to work after completing the program, graduates must be invited to do a specialized job by an employer recognized by the UK Border Agency and must have a minimum salary of 20,000 pounds/year. Financial proof also increased from 800 pounds to 1,000 pounds/month for a maximum of nine months (for those studying in London) and from 600 pounds to 800 pounds (for those studying outside London).

Regulations on the time for internships or part-time work during the course of study have also been tightened to ensure the quality of study: the internship time is reduced from 1/2 to 1/3 of the total time of a course. For those who violate student visa regulations, Mr. Sharp said they will be deported from the UK.
