The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows international students who have graduated from a Canadian educational institution to work legally for up to 3 years, depending on the duration of the program and courses they completed in Canada. This permit is issued to international students who have completed a full-time course for at least 8 months to meet the eligibility criteria when applying for the permit. Students must have graduated from:
- Public institutions: colleges, universities, trade and technology training schools, CEGEP (Technical colleges and publicly funded universities in Quebec’s education system).
- Private colleges and universities that operate based on public school regulations.
- Private high schools or colleges (in Quebec) that provide qualifying programs of 900 hours or more, awarding Diplôme D’études Professionnelles (DEP) or Attestation De Spécialisation professionnelle (ASP) after graduation.
- Private institutions in Canada authorized to grant diplomas according to provincial law, exclusively for programs recognized by the provincial government.
